To deliver such a simple and fun game, the 8 SHOT OCU monitors the table and players using a state-of-the-art vision system which has been exclusively developed for 8 SHOT. Game play information and video is relayed between competitors’ tables using a high-speed internet solution that has also been fully developed and tested. Games are automatically timed and all of the game action is shown live at each venue. Additionally, the results are used to update the player’s personal profiles – including high scores and best games statistics.
The 8 SHOT system solution is unique and international patents have been filed. Furthermore, the underpinning technology has been developed, proven, and integrated into two fully-working units. The design principle used is simple: use state-of-the-art technology to deliver a high-performance and robust product that is simple to use. The advanced technology does not get in the way of the game. An example of this is the direct projection of large control buttons onto the pool table surface which the 8 SHOT OCU monitors and detects the users selection: there is no need to operate a computer or any other control unit.
